    Safaricom Replaces Director, Esther Koimett

    According to reports, Mrs. Esther Koimett has been replaced as a Director of the Board at Safaricom. The move was reportedly directed by the National Treasury which is a majority shareholder in Safaricom. She is being replaced by Dr. Julius Muia who is the Principal Secretary of the National Treasury.

    In addition, the telecommunication giant’s shareholders re-elected Ms Rose Ogega, Dr. Bitange Ndemo and Mr. Mohamed Joosub.

    The Safaricom board, also accepted Nicholas Nganga’s retirement as Chairman. Mr. Nganga who had worked with three (3) Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) in Safaricom, has been with the telecommunications company for thirteen (13) years.

    He will be replaced by Michael Joseph who is the Safaricom’s former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and also the Chairman of the Board of Kenya Airways.
