The tax changes came into effect on Wednesday the 7th of July 2021. Said tax changes will have an affect on every out of bundle voice call, SMS, internet data, along with integrated plans.

The tax changes will also have a similar effect on the price of international SMS, roaming calls, international calls, as well as the Fibre To The Business (FTTB) and Fibre To The Home (FTTH) plans.

The prices of all personal postpaid services and products has also been changed.

The announcement by Safaricom is coming not long after fellow telecommunications company; Airtel announced barely two (2) weeks ago, that it will be increasing its headline voice tariff to 2.78 Kenyan Shillings.

The prices for consumer internet data on Safaricom, will however remain the same.

The cost of sending one SMyS (Single Short Message) will now stand at 1.20 Kenyan Shillings from the previous rate of 87 Cents.
