I stumbled on a billboard advertising a new loan app in Kenya and immediately, I was interested. Maybe it’s because of the name Berry, took me back to them BlackBerry days (don’t ask me how or why lol). Or maybe it’s Berry as a name for a loan app, took me by surprise. Either way, I made a decision to find out more.

The Google Play Store description says Berry is Kenya’s newest mobile money lending App. It provides instant credit to its users, right on their mobile phones at a low fee, with an easy and flexible repayment schedule. You get the cash simply and swiftly, directly on your android mobile device. Access to Berry’s short term and long term loans, can be access from anywhere in Kenya, whenever you need them.

The Berry Loan App is owned by Finberry Capital Limited. Not much is known about the company however, I mean the only website I was able to find about them is this: https://berry.ke/PP.html which is basically regarding their Privacy Policies, last updated on the 15th of October 2018.

I found a Berry App Kenya account on Instagram though

Finberry Capital Limited, is located in Nairobi, Kenya.

    How to Use Berry

Once you install the application which is approximately 18mb in size (perfect for any android device), Berry seeks your permission to look into your smart phone data, to determine your eligibility for a loan. The prompt also says the berry application has capabilities to create personalized loan options, allowing you to choose the best suited loan option for you to apply to.

Berry App asks to access your location, make and manage phone calls, take pictures and record video, access your contacts, send and view text messages and access photos, media and files on your device.

The application then proceeds to send a One Time Password (OTP) for verification, to your phone. You are advised to not share the One Time Password with anyone for security reasons.

The code is sent to you, is automatically inputted into your device by Berry. You do not have to do it manually.

Signing up with Berry is a seamless process that doesn’t require any paperwork at all.  Once you Log in, click on ‘Apply Now’, select the specific amount of the loan you want, and then select your loan. You will receive an approval in no time.

Upon approval, your loan will be sent to you directly, via the account you use for M-PESA.

    INTEREST RATES

The Interest Rates for Berry, vary depending on if you apply:

    • For the 3 day Loan

    • For the 21 Day Loan

    • For the 30 Day Loan

With the Berry App literally at your fingertips (via your mobile android device) , you can handle emergencies, clear your bills, pay school fees, top up your business stock and basically anything else that you need to keep your life’s day to day activities moving forward and to capitalize on any opportunity that comes your way.
