The hackers reportedly went live on the channel, live streaming a discussion about digital currencies. The livestream left a lot of Citizen TV’s online viewers shocked.
The hackers in question were also able to own some of the content that was updated on Citizen TV’s YouTube channel for a short while.
The widely popular television station; Citizen TV was however able to take back control of the channel and also recover all of its content.
As at the time of compiling this article the hacker(s) and Citizen TV had not yet released any statement touching on the hack.
Over the years hackers have been known to penetrate devices like tablets, smartphones, computers and even network servers. Sometimes government agencies all over the world fall prey to hacks that provide illegal access to their online platforms.

In Kenya for example a Facebook account of the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) experienced a cyber attack on the 23rd of November 2021.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) which is led by Noordin Haji broke the news to the general public via a statement which reads, “We wish to inform the members of the public that our Facebook page has been temporarily hacked and we are working towards resolving the issue.”
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) was however able to regain control of its Facebook account after just a few days.
Hacking is among the cybercrimes punishable by law in Kenya according to its constitution. It comes with a fine of not more than 5 million Kenyan Shillings and or an imprisonment term of not less than three (3) years.

In Kenya the office of the Data Commissioner is in charge of ensuring that the Data Protection Act is enforced. It also maintains and establishes a register containing the data processors and data controllers.
