According to reports WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook messenger are all down. Users worldwide, are confirming that they are indeed experiencing issues with said services.
Popular website; DownDetector made it known that the downtime being faced by the four platforms owned by Facebook and which began sometime this evening, is affecting users all over the world.
The social media giant; Facebook, has however released a statement via Twitter, stating that it was working to get said platforms back up.
The statement by Facebook read, “We’re aware that some people are having trouble accessing our apps and products.”

It added that, “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Popular technology website; TechCrunch revealed that when navigating through the affected platforms via web, a server error appears.
TechCrunch stated that, “Instagram shows a ‘5xx server error’, which indicates that this is an issue with Facebook’s servers.”
It stated further via a tweet that, “Users are also unable to send messages or load new content on the mobile apps for these platforms. Even Oculus, Facebook’s virtual reality platform, is experiencing outages.”

According to TechCrunch, “It appears that the outage is caused by a DNS (domain name server) fail – this is the naming structure that forms the web’s infrastructure. So, if you try to navigate to facebook.com right now, the internet won’t know where to find facebook.com.”
As expected being that four of the most popular social media platforms in the world are down, millions of users took to Twitter, to make their frustrations known.
