According to Tech News Nation the President of the United States of America; Donald Trump, has now signed an executive order which will essentially stop every single business transaction with ByteDance; the Chinese multinational internet technology company which owns TikTok.
According to the United States President, “The United States must take aggressive action against the owners of TikTok to protect our national security.”
The executive order also reportedly stressed the danger(s) associated with utilizing applications that are in one or the other, linked to the Chinese government stating that, “Data collection (of TikTok) threatens to allow the Chinese Communist Party to access Americans’ personal and private information, potentially allowing China to track the locations of federal employees and contractors, create personal information files for blackmail, and conduct corporate espionage.”
This out of the ordinary move by the united states government is coming on the heels of growing tensions and fears in the last couple of weeks, with the United States’ Secretary of State; Mike Pompeo describing the video-sharing social networking service; TikTok, as a “national security threat”.
According to observers the only move that could potentially counter the executive order, is if the operations and assets of ByteDance within the United States, are transferred to or acquired by a United States company.
Reports revealed that American multinational technology company; the Microsoft Corporation, is already looking to acquire TikTok and has already begun negotiations.
