The Giraffe Centre in Nairobi is a great place to see some of the world’s largest animals up close. This facility is operated by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) with the primary goal of protecting the endangered Rothschild giraffe, Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi, which can be seen roaming the East African meadows in a free and safe environment. There has been a great success with the program over the years, and a few reproducing varieties of Rothschild Giraffe have been introduced into Kenyan national parks. Many tame warthogs and other animals populate the area, and just across the road is a forested nature sanctuary that is excellent for birdwatching.

From 9 am to 5 pm daily, visitors can enjoy the Giraffe Centre. This consists of regular days as well as national holidays.

If you want to avoid the crowds at Giraffe Centre, consider visiting between 9 a.m. and noon, and between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

- Non-Resident Adult – $15 (approx = 1500Ksh)

- School Groups: Free if booked at least one week in advance.
- Free entrance for children under 3yrs of Age.
