Airtel Kenya offers the ability to transfer data bundles to its subscribers through its ‘Tuma Data’ service which is available to both the pre paid and post paid subscribers on its network.
Transferring Data For Pre Paid Subscribers
To transfer data bundles from one Airtel number to another for pre paid subscribers you already have enough airtime or credit on your mobile device, all you need to do is:
- Dial * 544# directly from your mobile device.
- Next select ‘Buy Internet’ from the options provided.
- Once done select ‘For other number’. Be sure to type in the phone number that you would like to make the Airtel Kenya internet bundle purchase for.
- After that, select the particular bundle package you wish to purchase for the third party and select ‘Okay’ to confirm the transaction.
- Once done, wait for a transaction confirmation. You will receive said confirmation from Airtel Kenya via SMS.
For pre paid users using the mobile USSD option, you can also:
- Dial *544# (from your mobile device of course).
- Next Select the ‘Gift Bundle’ option. It should be the 5th one on the list of options.
- After that, select ‘Amazing Data Bundles’ which will be option 3 and type in the recipient’s phone number.
- Once done, wait for a transaction confirmation. You will receive said confirmation from Airtel Kenya via SMS.
Transferring Data For Post Paid Subscribers
To transfer data bundles from one Airtel number to another for post paid subscribers you already have enough airtime or credit on your mobile device, all you need to do is:
- Dial *450# directly from your mobile device.
- Next select ‘Buy Internet’ from the options provided.
- Once done select ‘For other number’. Again, be sure to type in the phone number that you would like to make the Airtel Kenya internet bundle purchase for.
- After that, select the particular bundle package you wish to purchase for the third party and select ‘Okay’ to confirm the transaction.
- Once done, wait for a transaction confirmation. You will receive said confirmation from Airtel Kenya via SMS.

The acquisition deal which covered Zain Africa’s operations in 15 countries including Kenya but however excludes Morocco and Sudan, also increased Bharti Airtel’s overall customer base to 180 million subscribers, including the 131 million subscribers it already had in India as at April 2010.
Zain Africa received a cash payment of $7.9 billion in the acquisition deal, with Bharti Airtel taking care of Zain Africa’s consolidated debt obligations which were to the tune of $1.7 billion.
