Subsidiary of Transsion; Infinix, is a smartphone company based in Shenzhen that was created after the acquisition of French manufacturer; Sagem Wireless, back in 2011.
Infinix has research facilities in Korea and France, and manufactures in China, France, Korea, India, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, sells said devices in about 30 countries in Africa and the Middle East.
It is also the very first smartphone to begin manufacturing in Pakistan.
But even with all of the above credentials, the smartphone manufacturer is often times overlooked in the conversation of worthy contenders.
Launched on the 15th of October 2020 the Infinix Note 8 is a strong contender with a focus that is slightly tilted towards the camera technology that it comes with. It has a screen size of 6.95 inches with a screen to body ratio of 83 percent and an aspect ratio of 20.5:9, on an IPS LCD display with a peak of 480 nits, a screen resolution of 720 by 1640 pixels with a pixel per inch (ppi) density of 258 and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. This is perfect for viewing series, movies, music videos and other visual content.
The Infinix Note 8 runs on Google’s Android 10 Operating System (OS) and Infinix’s XOS 7.1 User Interface (UI), has the Mediatek Helio G80 (12nm) Chipset, an Octacore (2 x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 and 6 x 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) processor, and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU which is 14 percent more GPU power than what is found on the Infinix Note 7.
Camera wise the Infinix Note 8 has a 64 Megapixel (wide), a 2 Megapixel (macro), a 2 Megapixel (depth) and a 2 Megapixel Quad main camera set up, with Quad LED Flash, Panorama, HDR, Autofocus, and can shoot up to 1440p videos at 30fps (Frames Per Second). Still on the camera side this device’s 64 Megapixel main camera produces some of the most if not the most detailed pictures possible by smartphones available in today’s market.
Due to the fact that higher resolution cameras tend to perform rather poorly in low lit conditions, Infinix placed the Ultra Night Mode 2.0 mode on its Note 8. Thus feature, basically boosts the clarity of any picture you capture under or in low light conditions. This in turn allows you to focus more on the overall composition of the shot.
It also has an impressive autofocus feature that allows users to capture super sharp pictures people even when they are in motion. The device’s Super Macro Lens gives users the ability to focus much closer to their intended subject(s), and is quite suitable for nature pictures.
If you are more into taking portrait pictures, the Infinix Note 8, has you covered as well. This device, has dedicated depth sensors on both the back cameras and main cameras, that help users blur out the background in the photos, bringing you an experience that is so close to what is achieved with DSLRs.
If videos are more of your thing this device has what Infinix calls Vidhance video algorithms which essentially help you smoothen out the movement and also boost the image quality ensuring that your videos are better overall.
It comes with beautification options which work great even in scenarios where the natural lighting available is not so good.
Audiophiles will be pleased to see that the Infinix Note 8 did not get rid of the 3.5mm headphone jack. So all compatible earphones and headphones are welcome on this device. It has a dual speaker set up as well.
This device has a 6GB RAM, an internal storage of 128GB with a memory card slot that is expandable to up to an impressive 2TB.
Battery wise, the Infinix Note 8 packs a powerful 5200mAh battery. What this means is that you can go up to two days of constant on one full battery charge. Especially for light to medium smartphone users. This means everything from music and video streaming, to playing games, and of course recording videos and taking pictures.
It comes with an ambient light sensor, an accelerometer sensor, a gyroscope sensor, a fingerprint sensor, a magnetometer or compass sensor, and also supports the face unlock feature.
Connectivity wise this device supports GPS, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, 3G, USB Type C, USB OTG, and 4G with additional support for Band 40.
