According to Gadgets Africa, Safaricom will be shutting down its shops for four hours on Thursday the 4th of July 2019 between the hours of 10:30 am and 2:30 pm in honour of former CEO; Bob Collymore who succumbed to Cancer on Monday, the 1st of July 2019.
The telecommunications giant says the closure is in order to give Kenyans a chance to reflect on his life.
A statement by Safaricom reads, “As a mark of respect for our cherished leader, Safaricom shall be closing all our shops countrywide on Thursday 4th July 2019 between the hours of 10.30am and 2.30pm,”.
After Bob Collymore’s demise, the telecommunications firm announced the appointment of former CEO Chairman of Kenya Airways; Michael Joseph as the interim CEO.
During a private ceremony attended by close friends, family, and a few Safaricom staff, Bob Collymore’s body was cremated at Kariokor.
A memorial service will take place later this week to celebrate his life.
