From 5pm today the 22nd of August 2020 all subscribers of telecommunications giant; Safaricom that need to switch from one tariff to the other, obtain their PUK number, carry out a SIM swap or activate a new SIM card, will not be able carry any of that out.
This is because Safaricom is will be carrying out a 24-hour upgrade and maintenance that will inadvertently disrupt the smooth running of the above services.
The maintenance and upgrade will go on from today, until tomorrow Sunday the 23rd of August 2020 at exactly 5pm.
Excerpts from a statement by Safaricom read, “We are upgrading our systems to support the growth of our products and features and to ensure that we continue to deliver innovations in line with our customers’ needs.”
The telecommunications giant however assured its millions of users that other services like SMS, data, mobile money transfers (M-PESA) and calls, will not be interrupted or affected during the 24 hour period.
Safaricom has in the past couple of months, carried out a series of upgrades which have significantly improved its services.
One of such upgrades, was its daily transaction limit alert for all users of its mobile money transfer service; M-PESA. Now it tells users just how much of the daily 300,000 Kenyan Shillings transaction limit they have left.
It also launched a payment plan which allows its subscribers upgrade their mobile devices to users those that support 4G.
