Telecommunications giant Safaricom, has announced the launch of its new service; ‘Reverse Call’, a feature which will give its more than 31 million users the ability to pay for calls made by their loved ones.
The service ‘Reverse Call’, basically enables a caller to transfer the cost of a call to the receiver by adding ‘#’ before the number they are calling.
For example, to transfer the cost of the call to 0723456789, a user will simply dial: #0723456789.
Once a user receives a reverse call request, the details of the caller will appear on the screen as usual the difference now is that once the call is picked, the receiver will get a voice prompt asking him or her to key in “1” to accept the reverse call.
The cost of the call will be equivalent to the receiver’s normal call cost.
The service is however, only available for on-net calls. It will not be applicable for off-net, roaming and international calls.
The Reverse Call feature complements Safaricom’s already existing “Please Call Me” service which enables a customer to send five free messages to other customers requesting for a call back.
