A couple of weeks ago, Safaricom launched the All in One Bundle that promised to offer more flexibility. Initially, the product included only data and voice. It lack of the SMS option was a missing piece that made it unworthy of the ‘All in One’ subscription title. Safaricom has however fixed that, and added SMS to the package, which effectively makes it the most attractive product the telco has ever introduced to the market.
The All in One Bundles are:
1000 Kenyan Shillings (KSH)
1. 5GB
2. 200 mins 4 GB + 1000 SMS
3. 400 mins 1 GB + 1000 SMS
2000 Kenyan Shillings (KSH)

2. 600 mins 12 GB + 2000 SMS
3. 1000 mins 3 GB + 2000 SMS

2. 2500 mins 10 GB + 5000 SMS
10000 Kenyan Shillings (KSH)
1. 3500 mins 50 GB + 10000 SMS
2. 7500 mins 20 GB + 10000 SMS
In addition, the Telco Giant will be ending its FLEX Bundles as well as Advantage Plus Bundles.
The FLEX bundles were first introduced almost two years ago. The service allowed customers to use their airtime to buy ‘FLEX’ units which could be used either to purchase data, voice or SMS with no fixed allocation to either. With the service, 1 FLEX unit was either 20 seconds of talk time, 3 megabytes (MB) of data or 3 text messages.
Safaricom allowed its users to buy FLEX Bundles, either per day or per month. Users could buy 115 FLEX units for as low as Kshs 99 which would be valid for a day and also up to 3,100 FLEX units for Kshs 2,499 that would be valid for a month.
Advantage Plus bundles on the other hand, were packaged bundles that contained a set number of minutes, SMS and data bundles for a flat fee.
The 2999 Kenyan shillings bundle (Advantage Plus Superior) came with 1500 minutes of talk time to all networks, 1500 SMS and 3GB of data, while the 4,999 Kenyan shillings bundle (Premium) came with 3,000 minutes, 3000 SMS and 6GB of data.
The 9,000 Kenyan shillings bundle (VIP) came with 9000 minutes, 9000 SMS and 18GB of data.
Techweez, suggests that Safaricom’s decision to discontinue both services, could be because they were not as popular as Safaricom wanted them to be. Some Safaricom users, have already received service notifications about the discontinuation with the messages informing them that both Advantage Plus and Flex bundles will no longer be available from 8th April 2019.
Flex will however, still be available to those who have used it in the past, but will be off the menu for those who have never used it.
