The ICEA LION General Insurance Board, has named Paul Muthaura (MBS), as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He will be replacing Steven Oluoch, who left the organization after reaching the retirement age.
Steven Oluoch in a statement said, “I hand over this committed, technically astute and customer-oriented team to my worthy successor with the conviction that ICEA LION General will grow from strength to strength.”
The appointment of Paul Muthaura as ICEA LION General Insurance’s Chief Executive Officer has already been approved by the Insurance Regulatory Authority.
Mr. Paul Muthaura first joined ICEA LION General Insurance in April 2020 as its Chief Operating Officer. Before that, he served as Capital Markets Authority (CMA)’s he served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) where he worked for 14 years.
For the decade and 4 years he served at Capital Markets Authority (CMA) he strategically positioned the establishment to become the most Innovative Capital Markets Regulator in Africa for an impressive 5 consecutive years.
Mr. Paul Muthaura has a Masters Degree in Philosophy, a Masters of Law (Banking and Finance) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management.
He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Certified Executive Coach by the Academy of Executive Coaching and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Certified Secretaries
Professionally, he is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Certified Secretaries, a Certified Executive Coach by the Academy of Executive Coaching and served as a Board Member for the International Organisation of Securities Commissions.
He has also been the Chairman of the East African Securities Regulatory Authorities (EASRA), a Member of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Regional Consultative Group for Sub- Saharan Africa, a Member of the Securities Advisory Board, Toronto Centre for Leadership in Financial Supervision and the Chairman of the Capital Markets Master Plan Implementation Committee.
While he served as the Chief Executive of the Capital Markets Authority, Mr. Muthaura also served as a board member of the Insurance Regulatory Authority, the Vision 2030 Delivery Board, and the Retirement Benefits Authority.
