According to Kenyan Wallstreet East African Giant; Kenya, has now included more countries to its list of countries where travelers coming from said countries, will be exempted from the mandatory quarantine procedures upon arrival into Kenya.
The quarantine exemption list which initially only had Ethiopia, Uganda, Canada, Switzerland, China, Zimbabwe, South Korea, Morocco, Namibia, Japan, and Rwanda has now been updated to include France, United Arab Emirates, the United States of America (USA) (excluding Texas, California and Florida), Germany, Qatar, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
If a passenger arriving via an international flight does not have any flu related symptoms, does not have a temperature reading of above 37.5 degrees, has a negative PCR based COVID-19 test result that was carried out with 96 hours prior to travel and is coming from any of the countries that are considered medium to low risk countries, he or she will not be required to undergo a mandatory quarantine.
The Ministry of Health will carry out a daily review of all countries considered medium to low risk countries and where flight passengers will not have to undergo compulsory quarantine, in order to be up to date.
In addition all travellers arriving on flights after Kenya curfew, will be allowed to go on to their various residences. All they will need to provide are their air tickets and valid boarding passes.
In a surprising turn of events the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) issued a statement that annulled its approval all Kenya Airways (KQ) flights between Zanzibar, Dar Ea Salaam, Kilimanjaro and Nairobi starting from the 1st of August 2020, and carrying on indefinitely. Tanzania first opened its airports to international flights (non-scheduled and scheduled), on the 18th of May 2020, after having stayed closed for a month following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many view this as a direct response to Kenya’s move to exclude Tanzania from its list of Medium to low risk countries whose citizens will be allowed into the nation this August.
