Employees of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will be gifted an equivalent of one month of their salary for exceeding the targets which were set for the 2020/21 financial year.
The development will definitely be good news to the more than 14,000 employees at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) who will be benefiting.
The Commissioner General of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA); Githii Mburu informed all staff via an internal memo that the bonus payment which will be equivalent to a salary pay of one month, has been approved by the board of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
The Commissioner General added that the decision was made in deliberation with the National Treasury and is intended to reward the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) and its employees for exceeding the revenue target of 1.6 trillion Kenyan Shillings which was set for the 2020 to 2021 financial year.
The Commissioner General of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA); Githii Mburu also made it known via the memo that the board will be looking at the bonus reward as motivation to achieve the revenue target of 1.8 trillion Kenyan Shillings which has been set for the 2021 to 2022 financial year.
According to recent reports the employees who are the highest paid at the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) are the Commissioners. The Commissioner General earns anything from 1.2 million Kenyan Shillings to 2 million Kenyan Shillings each month.
Business Daily Africa made it known that sources at Times Tower reveal that, the other Commissioners earn from 700,000 Kenyan Shillings to 1.2 million Kenyan Shillings every month.
Over the last three (3) financial years the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has come under scrutiny due to the extra pressure the Kenyan Government placed on it to increase the revenue for the budgets. This led to the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) implementing various strategies which the private sector has described as being aggressive during the collection of the taxes.
