Khaligraph Jones (born Brian Ouko Robert, 12 June 1990) is a Kenyan hip hop artiste. Jones started in the Kenyan entertainment scene way in 2009 after he won the Kenyan Edition of the Channel O Emcee Africa competitions at the age of 19.
EARLY LIFE
Jones was born Brian Ouko Robert on the 12th of June 1990 in one of Kenya’s Eastland area, which is considered to be one of the dangerous places to live in Kenya. Living in Kayole (which is also known as Kayole 1960) enabled him to know the vices that are usually bombarded and instigated to them while living in the ghetto. MUSIC CAREER

Since then he has worked with the Kenyan music A-listers including Xtatic, Stella Mwangi, Rabbit, Kristoff, Abbas Kubaff, Chiwawa, Christine Apondi, The Mith of Klear Kut, Kaytrixx, Dj Creme Dela Creme, and Ulopa Ngoma.
His freestyling style has been described as “different, unique and admirable”.
AWARDS
Despite his humble beginnings, Khaligraph’s career has grown rapidly over the last couple of years. He has risen from winning rap battles on the streets to being crowned Africa’s Best Rap Act at the AFRIMMA 2018 Awards. He attests: “My greatest moment in 2018 was when I flew to the USA for the Afrimma awards ceremony. That feeling, when they called out my name as the winner, Priceless! It honestly cannot get better than that.”
Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones has been crowned Africa’s Best Hip hop act at Soundcity MVP awards in Lagos, Nigeria.
Khaligraph beat the likes of Falz from Nigeria, South Africa’s Kwesta, and Ghana’s Sarkodie among many others to bag the prestigious award at the event that was held on January 11, 2020.
Khaligraph was the only East African artiste to clinch an award at the year’s edition of the annual music awards which celebrates African artistes.
Otile Brown was nominated in Best Pop category which was won by JoeBoy from Nigeria while DJ Creme De La Creme lost out to DJ Spinall (Nigeria) in the African DJ of the Year category.
Likewise, Ethic loss to Dope Nation from Ghana in the Best Duo category.
HIGHEST NOMINATIONS
Tanzania musician Diamond Platnumz had the highest nomination (four) – Best Male MVP, Digital Artiste of the year, Best Collaboration, and African Artiste of the year – but he ended up losing in all.
Diamond, South Africa’s Prince Kaybee, Nigeria’s Wizkid, Ghana’s Stonebwoy and Uganda’s Big Trill all performed during the event.
