Betting company; Betin Kenya has filed a petition in Court challenging the Kenya Revenue Authority’s (KRA) demand of over 11 billion Kenyan Shillings in accumulated taxes.
Betin Kenya in its petition, argues that the funds demanded by the Kenya Revenue Authority, will have a negative impact on their business and also result in huge losses as the company would be unable to conduct its basic operations including the payment of salaries, as well as payments to suppliers and other service providers.
According to the Kenyan Wall Street, reports indicate that the Kenya Revenue Authority, has written notices to Safaricom and Betin Kenya’s respective banks, demanding for the billions in taxes.
Following the move by the Kenya Revenue Authority, Safaricom has since frozen the accounts of the operator; Betin Kenya.
The company (Betin Kenya) stated that it has stopped all operations.
It therefore, wants the court to suspend the KRA notices issued against it pending the hearing and determination of the case.
