With a large production capacity of Miraa Kenya has a target of exporting 20 tonnes to Djibouti. Miraa shares a percentage in the Kenyan economy, this calls for the need to explore the export market which was put to task and Djibouti has pioneered in the trade. This is with a view of widening the miraa market across the Eastern Africa boarder. The government aims at raising the miraa farmers living standards through the expansion of the market. Kenya and Djibouti have established trade relations to enable an enabling environment to facilitate the increase the miraa trade capacity to a value of 20 tonnes.
A delegate led by the Kenya trade minister as commissioned to Djibouti to unlock the miraa market has positively influenced the miraa trade. This comes after the trouble market of Somalia. Of great importance is the establishment of good transport networks to Djibouti as miraa is highly perishable.
