Africa’s E-commerce giant; Jumia, has announced plans to expand its countrywide pick up station network from the current number of 170 pick-up stations, to 600.
The announcement came on the eve of Jumia’s 7th birthday sales campaign, called ‘Jumia Anniversary Sales’.
The sales campaign launches today, Sunday the 23rd Of June 2019, from 11:59 pm and will run for three weeks.
The new strategy relies on an agency model, through which existing entrepreneurs will potentially earn as much as 20,000 Kenyan Shillings by hosting the Jumia pick up stations in their existing shops and facilities.
The move is aimed at empowering Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by enhancing their revenues while at the same time, providing better services to the growing customer base in Eldoret and other cities.
It is also expected to speed up the adoption of online shopping in the upcountry areas, and provide opportunities for vendors countrywide.
Jumia’s Managing Director; Sam Chappatte said, “We see a growing potential and many unserved customers in areas outside of Nairobi. In towns like Eldoret, our range of products and competitive pricing is even more relevant for customers. Our expanded pick up station network will enhance customer confidence and provide them a convenient shopping experience,”.
Entrepreneurs who are interested and would like to take part and become Jumia sales consultants or pick up station agents, can register online on the Jumia official website.
The newly opened pick-up stations in the Eldoret region include Bargetuny Plaza, Loop Business Center, Koibatek Uniforms, and The Young Pioneer.
