Popular Pan-African technology company that is built around a marketplace, logistics service and payment service; Jumia, has launched a brand new integrated logistics network facility and warehouse in Nairobi, Kenya.
The logistics service enables the delivery of packages through a network of local partners in different countries, has continued to execute successful expansion moves consistently.
The new integrated logistics network facility and warehouse which is 11,000 metres squared, will be a merging point for the numerous services offered by Jumia. It is expected that the new facility will also help the company expand its warehouse capacity in the East African region.

In addition, the new integrated logistics network facility and warehouse will make it possible for Jumia to put an end to having to transport goods from warehouse to sorting centers where orders from users typically have to go through for processing. This will in turn reduce the gas emissions or operational logistics costs incurred during first mile deliveries
The integrated logistics network facility and warehouse is located just along Mombasa road, close to JKIA (Jomo Kenyatta International Airport) and the new Nairobi Expressway.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jumia Kenya; Juan Seco stated that, “The new integrated facility has enabled us to converge our multiple warehouses and network operations under one roof. This will help us to improve our fulfilment operations to be more efficient and scalable, thus taking care of our future needs as the business continues to grow.”
Jumia Express which is Africa’s all inclusive service, from packaging to return management for select vendors, will also gain from the new integrated logistics network facility and warehouse as it will reduce cases of out of stock order cancellations and also facilitate faster deliveries.

The Jumia Services Country Manager; Ankur Agarwal while speaking on the way the new facility will supplement the company’s sustainability methods made it known that, “The convergence of our operations has helped us to reduce up to 15 truck trips per day, enabling us to reduce carbon emissions significantly. We will continue to look for opportunities to contribute positively to the environment.”

Jumia will also be looking to provide its logistics services to other e-commerce businesses operating locally and are not currently listed on or working with Jumia. The move is in a bid to “leverage its network, technology, and expertise for last-mile and line haul deliveries.”
The new integrated logistics network facility and warehouse will in addition, provide an improved working space, a location that is easier to get to, as well as enhanced working conditions especially when out side by side to the facilities previously used by Jumia.
