Africa’s Biggest e-commerce platform; Jumia, has launched a new service for customers in Kenya dubbed ‘Jumia Mall’.
The new service, is a carefully selected section on Jumia’s platform which will enable its customers to be able to easily identify the official distributors of leading brands on the site.
With this this access, its users will now have the option of either buying directly from their favorite brands or from Jumia’s wider marketplace.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jumia Kenya; Sam Chappatte said, “We are on a mission to build trust in online shopping. As part of this, we have partnered with over 50 brands to launch their Official Online Stores with Jumia Mall. Through this, we seek to attract new customers into the online shopping category, for the benefit of both our brands and wider marketplace vendors.”
Jumia will hold a week long Jumia Mall Campaign from the 16th to the 22nd September 2019, to celebrate the introduction of the new category, and to also sensitize its users to the new service.
Users who log onto the Jumia platform will now have a choice to buy from either Jumia Mall (which is for the official brands), Jumia Global (for its international vendors) or a large number of quality-vetted local resellers (also known as the marketplace).
Jumia has also invested in and launched free Masterclass lessons for Young Entrepreneurs where the young entrepreneurs, will be taught about the requirements for growing a business.
The first session which was held by Jumia on Thursday the 12th of September 2019, gave young entrepreneurs the opportunity to learn from Jumia’s staff first hand, on how their businesses can become much more visible.
The e-commerce platform, intends to conduct the masterclasses on every month, while incorporating different topics which would enlighten young entrepreneurs about the mistakes that the company made while it was first starting out, with the hope that a lot would be learnt from it.
The company’s staff, will also be on hand to teach teach young entrepreneurs about the journey Jumia took to becoming the most recognizable e-commerce bran in the continent of Africa.
