Kenyan low cost airline; Jambojet, is scheduled to increase the number of its flights to the Coastal towns of Malindi, Mombasa, and Ukunda (Diani)) this August (2019)
The Kenyan Airways subsidiary which was recently awarded the coveted IATA Operational Safety Audit registration, will operate 48 weekly flights to Mombasa a figure slightly higher than the previous standing of 40 weekly flights. Ukunda (Diani) and Malindi as well, will have three additional weekly flights moving their number of flights to twice daily.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jambojet; Allan Kilavuka stated that, “August is a peak season, which means increased numbers of passengers are flying to our various coastal destinations. We are responding to our customers’ demands for these additional frequencies in line with our core promise of providing convenience, safety and reliability in our operations. The increased number of flights will offer our customers even more flexibility and flight variety to travel to these destinations”.
The airline will offer an extra 23% seat capacity as a result of the additional flights to the Coastal destinations.
Kisumu, Eldoret and Entebbe will however maintain their current figures of 21, 20 and 10 weekly flights respectively.
According to their official website (jambojet.com), the costs of Jambojet flights to Malindi, Mombasa and Ukunda (Diani) start from 4,500 Kenyan Shillings, 4,000 Kenyan Shillings and 6,700 Kenyan Shillings from Nairobi, respectively.
The Airline has flown over 3 million passengers since its creation 5 years ago, including 1 million passengers who were getting on flights for the first time.
As at April 2019, Jambojet’s On Time Performance (OTP), stood at 86 percent which is one of the highest in the Kenyan market.
