To add or create a footnote in PowerPoint, simply:
- Open up your PowerPoint software.
- Once done, go to the particular slide that you would like to add the footnote to.
- Insert a symbol or number right next to the text that needs a footnote.
- Next, you will need to make the number or symbol that you have inserted as a footnote indicator in Superscript.
- Once done, highlight the character by clicking and dragging your mouse over it.
- Select the ‘Dialog Box Launcher’ option in the ‘Font’ section of the ‘Home’ tab in your PowerPoint software. The Dialog Box Launcher, is the really small icon that is found at the bottom right of the ‘Font’ section.
- In the same ‘Font’ window, select the box right next to ‘Superscript’. You will find it in the ‘Effects’ section.
- Select the ‘OK’ option to proceed. After you do that, the selected text will now appear as a superscripted text.
- Next, select the “Header & Footer’ option in the ‘Text’ tab of the ‘Insert’ section. Doing this will add the actual footnote that you want.
- Once the ‘Header and Footer’ window appears, proceed to check the box next to the ‘Footer’ option.
- Type in the symbol or number that you used as the footnote indicator.
- Once done, type in the text for your footnote.
- Next, proceed to select the ‘Apply’ button. The footnote will now be added.
- Repeat the entire process for each slide that you would like to attach footnotes to.
