Mortgage lender; HF Group, has partnered with cloud communication firm Infobip, Wayawaya, Kocela and Myriad to release its WhatsApp banking product.
The WhatsApp banking solution which was launched on Thursday the 6th Of September 2019, will make HF Group the first bank in Africa, to commercialize the product.
The platform will allow HF Group’s existing customers and new customers alike, to interact with the financial institution via WhatsApp for services which include bill payments, funds transfers, goods purchases, loans, virtual account opening, among other services.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HF Group; Robert Kibaara said, “Highly popular messaging platform with millions of active users in Kenya, WhatsApp unlocks an opportunity for us to offer our customers a more personal, intuitive and efficient way to engage with them on chat.”
The CEO added that the innovation would give its users the ability to manage their banking needs directly from their WhatsApp chats just as easily as it is at branches and other digital banking platforms.
Infobip’s Managing Director for Kenya; Rachel Njiru stated that, “Enhancing the customer experience is a goal that all big companies should strive to achieve, and we’re thrilled that HF Group was one of the first financial institutions that recognized this opportunity in Kenya.”
Customers interested in this service and wish to subscribe, are required to save the bank’s WhatsApp phone number.
This means that access to the chat will granted on an individual and personalized level.
The new service, is part of HF Group’s digital banking strategy which aims at improving efficiency, and targeting to eventually lead to profitability.
