On Friday the 30th of July 2021 the East African nation of Kenya extended its Coronavirus (Covid-19) curfew until further notice. The particular reason for the circumstance is the fact that the country has continued to experience higher cases of infections within its borders.
The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health; Mutahi Kagwe made it known that the curfew hours will continue to go on from 10pm to 4am.
Kenya had by the Friday the 30th of July 2021 recorded a total of 945 new Coronavirus cases from 7,295 tests which were done over a period of 24 hours. This signifies an increase of 13 percent in the positivity rate.
The Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Health; Mutahi Kagwe made it known via a briefing that as a result of the increase in the number of infections, a majority of the healthcare facilities have been overwhelmed. He implored all individuals in Kenyan to adhere to the health guidelines which have been put in place to prevent the further spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19), while also warning against the carrying out of self medications.
In his words, “Seek medical attention from qualified healthcare workers. We have lost a few individuals as a result of not following this particular measure.”
Due to the Coronavirus cases in Kenya increasing, the East African nation has swiftly conducted a review of the guidelines it had put in place. This guidelines include the suspension of in person meetings and the suspension of public gatherings.
In the case of Places of Worship, they have all been instructed to only allow a third of their capacity into their various premises with a physical distance of not less than one (1) metre between everyone present.
All eateries and restaurants in Kenya have also been instructed to adhere strictly to the rules put in place by the Ministry of Health when carrying out their operations.
As at the time of compiling this article the East African nation had so far recorded a total of 201,954 Coronavirus virus cases.
A total of 216 more patients more patients recovered. This brought the total number of Coronavirus recoveries to 188,438. Sadly 16 more Coronavirus fatalities were reported, bringing the death toll to a total of 3,926.
As of Thursday the 29th of July 2021 the total number of individuals who had received Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines stood at 1,712,550. Of that number, a total of 1,058,280 only received the first dose while a total of 654,270 have undergone complete vaccination.
