Those who are old enough, remember how from around 2007 to 2011 the Blackberry devices were the smartphones to have and the status/class symbols. From 2012 till now however, Apples iPhones have become the New Cool.
To begin this series, we will be looking at the iPhone 6s.
The iPhone 6S in 2019
The Apple iPhone 6s has a special place in the hearts of many, being one of the very last phones (the other being the 6s Plus) by the company to spot the headphone jack. But besides the headphone jack, can these phones hold their own next to today’s devices? Let’s find out with the iPhone 6s.
The iPhone 6s was officially launched in September 25th 2015 with preorders starting as far back as the 12th of 2015. It sold 13million units in its launch weekend.
Specifications
The iPhone 6S sports a:
4.7 inch screen with 750×1334 pixels
12mp back camera with an aperture of f/2.2
5mp front camera with an aperture of f/2.9
2GB RAM
Non-removable Li-Ion 1715 mAh battery
It also comes with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB & 128GB variants, available in Space Gray, Silver, Gold, Rose Gold colours.
Design
While the design of the 6s is almost 4 years old now, it stills looks and feels premium and manages to be at par with today’s much newer devices. That is of course if you ignore the ‘huge’ bezels that come with the screen.
Performance
The 6S received a significant boost in overall performance due to the iOS 12 update released in September 2018, which dealt with the various bugs that had slowed down the device following the ios 11 release and of course its Apple A9 Chip duo core processor which comes with 2GB ram.
It is important to note that newer devices like the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 also have 2GB ram respectively.
The iPhone 6s supports features present in the newer versions of the iPhone like:
Group Facetime.
Group Notifications.
YouTube Tech enthusiasts like Simple Alpaca conducted speed tests comparing the 6S to iPhone XR, X and XS and while they were faster, the 6S still holds its own. It supports in demand games like Fortnite.
Camera
The iPhone 6S’ 12MP is available to shoot videos in 4K. Something even a couple of the newer smartphones in the market are lacking. While you may not have crazy effects or anything, that is still a pretty neat feature.
Battery
This is the only place where the 6S appears to fall short. Especially for heavy users who will have to charge at least once during the day.
Verdict:
While the iPhone 6S is almost 4 years old it is still a very powerful device and 100% worth your money 2019.
It is easy to repair.
A premium design even though the bezels are ‘huge’ by today’s standard.
It has more than decent cameras that are very much at par with those in new smartphones.
It still has the headphone jack.
A Very good build quality.
Still receives software updates from Apple and will continue to, for at least a year or 2.
So should you buy the iPhone 6S in 2019? Yes, yes and YES!
