Another round of Huduma Namba registration, is currently in the works.
Spokesman for the Kenyan government; Cyrus Oguna, made it known on Thursday the 4th of July 2019, that the new round of registrations, will be done for individuals who missed out on the extended period.
The retired colonel (Cyrus Oguna), stated that after the mass registration ended on the 25th of May 2019, millions of people were left out even after a one week extension announced by President Uhuru Kenyatta, as many of the individuals who were unable to register did not have national Identification Cards and birth certificates by the time the exercise was completed.
He added the government has thus taken that into consideration and will allow said individuals, to get the documents, ensuring that they are also able to register.
While speaking at Mbeere South constituency’s innovation hub at Kiritiri in Embu during a weekly press briefing on various national issues, the government spokesman, said there will be a two week window for mass registration for the Huduma Namba which will be announced officially.
He however made it clear that the registration will not be in market places as it happened in May, but at the offices of assistant chiefs and urged everyone who did not register to take advantage of the new registration period and get the crucial numbers.
37.7 million individuals in Kenya had registered by the time the exercise was stopped in May and about 11 million people were left out.
Cyrus Oguna also assured officers who were recruited to carry out the registration that they will get their pay this week adding that payment of the officers involved in the exercise which took 52 days, was broken into four phases.
The first phase was for 20 days, the second 15 days, the third 10 days and the fourth seven days owing to the extension by the President.
Cyrus stated that payments for the first two phases have already been done, and that 70 percent of those who participated in the exercise have already been paid.
The retired colonel said the remaining 30 percent payment is being processed this week and that the seven days extension payment will be done next week.
He also made it known that contrary to complaints by the officers involved in the Huduma Namba registrations, the Kenyan government is concerned about their welfare of the officers.
