    M-Pesa Services To Experience 4 Hour Outage Today

    Telecommunications giant; Safaricom will be carrying out a maintenance exercise on its mobile money service; M-Pesa today Monday the 27th of September 2021 and end on Tuesday the 28th of September 2021.

    According to Safaricom, the maintenance exercise will take place between the hours of 11:59 pm tonight, to 4:00 am tomorrow morning.

    During the planned exercise all M-Pesa services including the purchasing of airtime, will be inaccessible.

    This means that all individuals in Kenya who make use of or depend on the Mobile money service by Safaricom, would need to make the necessary arrangements and adjustments in case of any emergencies or needs that could occur during the period of time where the maintenance exercise will be taking place.

    Safaricom’s M-Pesa Mobile Money service has over the past couple of years, become an integral part of everyday living in Kenya. It has within that time, also evolved into being much more than just a platform for receiving and sending money.

    It now comes with numerous business tools that are quite powerful and that can be used by both international businesses and businesses of Kenyan origins.

    Due to its efficiency, effectiveness and widespread use since it’s launch as far back as 2007, M-Pesa has becomes the highest revenue earner for the telecommunications company; Safaricom an occurrence which comes as no surprise to its millions of users. It remains way ahead of its competition.

    In the Mobile Money sector in Kenya M-Pesa has a market share of more than 100 percent. This is according to Techweez.

    M-Pesa now has over 30 million active users in Kenya alone, and 50 million active users in the markets within Africa, that use the M-Pesa service.

    The Official Statement by Safaricom regarding the maintenance exercise reads,

    “We are constantly investing and innovating M-PESA to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of our customers as well as continue to support our partners in their business ambitions.

    To support this continued transformation, we regularly undertake enhancements and maintenance of our systems from time to time.

    In this regard, our M-PESA services shall be undergoing planned maintenance on Monday 27th September 2021, starting from 2359 hrs to Tuesday 0400 hrs. During the maintenance, all M-PESA services including airtime purchase shall be temporarily unavailable.

    The timing of this maintenance activity has been planned to result in the least of inconvenience to our customers.

    We apologies for any inconvenience that may be caused and thank you for your continued support.
