Technology giant; Huawei is reportedly offering global developers $1.5 billion as an incentive for them to partner with the company and help build its software.

The Deputy Chairman of Huawei; Ken Hu whole talking at an annual customer conference, made it known that the money is an investment into the technology giant’s already existing developer program and will be spread spread over the next five years.

Huawei’s developer program was created with the main aim of attracting external parties to develop applications for the company’s services which include its computing platforms and future chip.

With the launch of Huawei’s Harmony OS which is the company’s in house Operating System, the effectiveness of the developer program will be instrumental to the fate of Harmony OS.

The growing uncertainty surrounding the tech company’s use of Android which is owned by Google, has led to Huawei’s acceleration of the development of applications to serve its devices that will be utilizing the Harmony OS.

The mouthwatering offer by Huawei is coming in the wake of tension between the company and the United States.

Russian technology and Internet services company Yandex and Booking Holdings which is the American company behind Booking.com and other fare aggregator sites have already shown interest and have begun partnering with Huawei.
